HOWARD ROSS CURTIS We mourn the loss of Howard Ross Curtis, born 1919, the son of Charles and Emma Curtis of Winnipeg. Howard was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret, son Bruce, and step-son John. He will be deeply missed and his memory kept alive by his wife Jean, brother George (Dorothy), his children Glen (Diane), Joy (Mike), Cathy (Asaf), Jim, Tara and Fiarra Nixon (Fred), and his grandchildren Vicki, Veronica, Larry, Michael (mother Karen), Faun, Alana (father Eric), Paul (father Rex), Ivy and Seth. Howard's love of the outdoors manifested itself in his camping, boating, flying, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, sailing, golfing, gardening, and family time at the Star Lake cabin which he built. The wooden boats and aircraft that he refurbished were a part of the cabin family life, as were barbecues, many humorous friendly card games, and planting more trees. Howard, a war veteran and a founding member of the Western Canadian Tire Dealers' Association was a second generation in the family business, Curtis Tire. He left us April 14, 2008. The family thank Dr. Jonathon Werier for years of excellent professional care and friendship, and also the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, fifth and sixth floors, for the care and compassion given to Howard and his family during his stay. A private man, Howard's funeral will be a quiet family service. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, a donation in memory of Howard may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one's choice. Friends are warmly welcomed to a memorial family reception at Glen and Diane's home on Friday, April 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thomson In the ParK Funeral Home and Cemetery www.thomsoninthepark.com 925-1120 Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com
