Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES BORLAND DOUGLAS James Borland Douglas, 82, passed away peacefully at Nanaimo General Hospital on April 4, 2008 after a long struggle with Alzheimers. He is survived by his wife, Irene, to whom he was married for some sixty years, three adult sons, James, Robert and Gordon, ten grand children and three great-grandchildren. His daughter, Jean, predeceased him in July of 2007. Mr. Douglas was a respected mechanical engineer and held a number of senior positions with Dupont of Canada, notably in Shawnigan and Montreal, Quebec, and also with the provincial government of Manitoba in Winnipeg as a consulting engineer. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 24, 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1956 with his wife and four children. He was a committed family man who had a great love of fishing and the out of doors and became an avid gardener during his retirement years. Those who knew him will recall his warm and down to earth nature together with his ever willingness to assist others of all stripes. A private memorial service will be held at the family home in Parksville, BC on April 19, 2008 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sands~ Nanaimo
