Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEATRICE VAN WALLEGHEM (nee OVERWATER) Mass of the Resurrection Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kenora Peacefully, after a brief illness, with her family by her side, Bea passed away on April 14, 2008 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital at the age of 87. She will be remembered by her four children Bernardine (Claude) Arbez (Ottawa), Gerard (Maureen) (Winnipeg), Chris (Jane) (Kenora) and Judy (Al) Minor (Kenora), 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are her brother John (Alice) Overwater and sisters Marie Schreyer, Elizabeth Carrett and Jackie Buchanan and brothers-in-law Mike (Anne), George (Helen) and Father Gerard S.J. and sisters-in-law Yvonne and Anita. She was predeceased by her husband Lucien (Laddie), grandson Ryan Van Walleghem and numerous relatives on the Overwater and Van Walleghem families. In 1939 Bea arrived in Kenora with Laddie to operate Lakeland Dairies. Bea lived her faith in service to others. The sincerity and integrity of Bea's life affected those who knew her. Bea was proud of the accomplishments of each member of her family. Her door was always open to friends, relatives and newcomer immigrant families. Bea was recognized as a community volunteer as an Officer Sister of St. John Ambulance, Medal of Merit, Girl Guides of Canada, Award of Distinction, Arthritis Society and over 66 years as a C.W.L member in her Parish. After graduating from the R.N.A program, Bea worked at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital until her retirement. She has faithfully supported her brother-in-law Father Gerard in Darjeeling, India. Cremation has taken place. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kenora on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. A prayer vigil will be held at the Church on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. with Father Rudy Manaloto OSA officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in her name be made to the Lucien and Beatrice VanWalleghem Scholarship Fund, c/o The Community Foundation of Ottawa, Suite 301, 75 Albert Street, Ottawa, ON, K1P 5E7 or to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation, 21 Sylvan Street West, Kenora, ON, P9N 3W7 or a charity of their choice.
