HERMAN ALEXANDER JANECZKO 1918 2008 With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our Dad, Grandpa and Great-Papa on Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Dad was the eldest of seven, born September 11, 1918, to Ludwick and Marie (Gusta) Janeczko in Libau, MB. Dad's supportive, loving and gentle manner will be remembered by his son Dennis (Susan), daughters Dianne (Paul Dugal), Carol (Terry Demkiw) and Josie (Yunus Lubega), his eight grandchildren Candace, Scott, Karlene, Matthew (Marilyn), Nicole, Christopher, Shareefah and Sophia, his three great-grandchildren, Tyrell, Zackary, Jessica, and his two brothers, Albin and Robert and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. His beloved wife Lillian, parents, and brothers Frank, Victor, Tony and Edward predecease dad. Dad grew up during the Great Depression and the Second World War. Before he married mom, Dad purchased land in East Selkirk and developed it into what his children know today as the Farm . The homestead is robust with over 70 years of nostalgia from Dad clearing the land, personally building the family home and adjoining structures, keeping livestock and working the grain fields, while raising his family. Dad worked hard on the farm and worked construction during the off-seasons leaving his fingerprints on many well-known Winnipeg heritage buildings. After Mom's passing, Dad lived with his daughter Carol and son-in-law Terry while maintaining frequent visits to the farm, visiting family and friends. Dad cherished his friendship with John and Anne Demkiw and their family. Over the course of dads life he worked very hard, traveled extensively with his wife and children and more recently Dad loved the 11 country European tours he shared with Carol, an Alaskan cruise with Dianne and Paul, his trip to Gatineau, Quebec to visit Josie and Yunus and a trip to New Orleans with Dennis and Susan. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Matthew Demkiw and Christopher Schilling; nephew Carl Janeczko; Ronald Marks; Michael Demkiw; Kenny Byce. Thank you to the Dr's and Nursing staff unit 5N at the Grace Hospital and 5th floor Rehab Hospital the Health Sciences Centre. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. Funeral Rites to be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Polish National Catholic Church, Libau, MB, with Msgr. Fr. Wesley Cwieka officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the M.S. Society of Manitoba, in Dad's memory. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
