Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE LINDA PALS 1916 - 2008 Peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2008 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease, Catherine passed away at Starwood Nursing Home in Ottawa, ON. She was born in Australia, the daughter of Leonard and Frances Glover. She was the beloved wife of Laurens K. Pals who predeceased her in 1986 and with whom she is now reunited. She is also predeceased by her first husband Rex Beaumont, her sister Audrey Turpin and brother-in-law Neville, her brother Roy Hurlow (Lillian), her stepson-in-law Walter Cramp (Joan), her best friend Margaret Bevan, and Henry Holik, the late husband of her step- granddaughter (Kathleen). Catherine was the dear stepmother of Shirley Joan Cramp (Rudy) in Winnipeg and Merna Laura Bégin (Lou) of Ottawa. Loving stepgrandmother of Michael (Laurie) of Virgina, Denise (Rick) and Kathleen of Ottawa and Douglas, Karen (Glen) and David of Winnipeg and great-stepgrandmother of Nicholas, Stefan, Kaleigh, Bridget and Bradley. Catherine also has family in Holland, her niece B.J. Duffels van Beek, her nephews Pim van Beek (Plony) and Klaas van Beek (Sjany) and relatives in England. Catherine came to Canada from England in 1981 and as difficult as the adjustment was in the beginning she always looked on the bright side of things with a sense of humor and she never looked back. Cathy had a kind and loving heart and was a gracious and gentle lady who was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. It was at Catherine's request that her passing not be noted by any service or ceremony. Her remains will rest with her husband in the veteran's section of the National Military Cemetery in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, ON. A private family celebration of Catherine's life will be held at a later date. We want to thank Starwood Nursing Home and in particular all the staff on the second floor (south) for their unending devotion and loving care and support for Catherine over the years. For those who wish, a donation to the Family Support Group of Starwood Extendicare Nursing Home, 114 Starwood, Nepean, ON, K2G 3N5, would be appreciated. Rest In Peace
