ALLAN JOHN McDOUGALL February 3, 1932 - April 17, 2008 With our deepest love and saddened hearts, we his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter announce the passing of a very much loved and extraordinary gentleman. Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on April 17, 2008. Dad will be lovingly remembered and so dearly missed by his children Dale, Dawn (Richard), Heather, Myrna (Scotty), Theresa, and Shelly, his grandchildren Stephanie, Scott, Matthew, Michael, Amanda, Katelyn, Ashley, Alexis and his great-granddaughter Katarina, brother Wayne, sister Doreen, sisters-in-law Lillian, Rita, Verna, Emily, brother-in-law Ronnie along with several nieces and nephews. Dad also will be greatly missed by his three little companions; Patches, Ginger and Bootsie that gave him many hours of entertainment, comfort and affection. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Marina of 46 years in 2004, his parents William and Mary, grandson Richard Allan, brothers Donald and Neil. Father and mother-in-law Runo and Hildur Gullden. Sisters-in-law Marion, Deborah, Gladys, Irene, Shirley and Bernice. Brothers-in-law Delbert, Raymond, Jack, Bob and Goldie, niece Debbie, nephews Cameron, Bruce and Jason. All who he missed immensely. Dad was born and raised on the family farm and attended his schooling in the Northfolk (Currie district) Edwin, Manitoba. As a young adult, Dad moved and found employment with Globe Light Batteries in Winnipeg. Dad fell in love and married his partner for life (our Mother) Marina on April 13, 1957 and spent 46 wonderful years raising and loving a very close knit family. He then moved on and found employment as a truck driver in 1960 with Mulder Construction staying as a very valuable employee until retiring in 1999 at the age of 67, only taking a few years off between this time as he owned and operated his own gravel truck. In Dad's earlier years he enjoyed fishing and camping with his family, as well as going back on the family farm and hunting with his brothers and many longtime friends from the area. Dad was a very loving and family oriented person, who enjoyed having everyone together. Dad took great pride in his yard and working in his garden. He would be so impressed and thrilled when his grandchildren would help themselves to his raspberries, plums and apples. It gave him a great feeling of accomplishment. We will always be thankful for the great work ethic that he instilled in each of us. Throughout his working years a sick day was never taken. Dad had worked extremely hard to provide for his wife and six children. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren and he always looked forward to our Sunday family dinners. We, his children, would like to express our sincere gratitude to a very special person Bill Erickson. Bill called and visited Dad on a regular basis, and became a very loyal friend whom Dad enjoyed coffee and conversations with. Bill, we really appreciate having you as a part of our family. We would like to also thank Dr. D. Wiseman, Dr. N. MacEachern, Dr. J. Mayba and their medical assistants, who cared for our Dad throughout the years. Thank you to the Paramedics and members of the Fire Department and also to the sensitive police officers and Leslie (Medical Examiner) who performed their jobs with care and compassion. Dad, thank you for being a wonderful Father and for all the beautiful memories which will continue to be a very special part of our lives. We love you and will always miss you. Dad and Mom are now reunited, which is where Dad wanted to be. We are all so fortunate to have had them in our lives and they will both remain in our hearts forever. Cremation has already taken place, and being the quiet man Dad was, he will have a small family service. Dad and Mom, we will always love and miss you forever. (A family left with an enormous hole in our hearts)
