MAUREEN ANNE MACAW (nee CROWLEY) Peacefully on April 13, 2008 Maureen Macaw passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 50. Maureen was predeceased by her parents John and Betty Crowley and leaves to cherish her memories, her brothers: Jay (Lina) and Rob, sisters: Regan (Harold) Hermann and Shaune (Rob) Altarui. Also left to mourn are all her nieces and nephews: Jordan, Thera, Lillian, Dane, Brittany, Troy, Jason, Kari, Damian, Raeanne, Riley and Lauren; her aunt Margaret Miller and many cousins. Maureen treasured her years at St. Mary's Academy and went on to The University of Manitoba, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and made many lasting friends. For many years, she was a professional Employment Recruiter and was an active member of the Winnipeg Chapter of the Rotary Club. In her off-time, Maureen enjoyed spending many summers at the family cottage in Clearwater Bay. Maureen was a very kind and generous individual who devoted her life to helping others. She volunteered with The Arthritis Society and MS Society, as well as various local organizations. One of her greatest passions was dogs. She offered up her time and her home to look after her friend's dogs while they were away, and even was a foster parent for the Winnipeg Humane Society. Due to her health issues, she did not own a dog of her own. However, she prided herself on being like a second mom to many dogs over the years. Maureen's door was always open to anyone in need. Her circle of friends grew every day, and she gave of herself to everyone. She will be greatly remembered and missed by all those who knew her. O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen. We love you, Mo, and miss you so much. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3. Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008 at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place. Private family internment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
