CYNTHIA MARGARET SCHMIDT (nee PARTRIDGE) May 2, 1945 - April 18, 2008 Peacefully, on Friday, April 18, 2008; Cynthia passed away at home at the age of 62 years after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Cynthia leaves to mourn her loving husband Harvery of 38 years of marriage; her children, Christian (Danielle) and Jonathan; her beloved grandchildren, Madison and Savanah; her brother, Richard Partridge (Niki); sister Nancy Geoffrey; sister-in-law, Lee Ann Partridge, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Florence and by her twin brother, Gary. It was Cynthia's choice to be a stay at home mother. During the years when the children were young, she enjoyed doing volunteer work in the community, particularly in the schools. In 1983, Cynthia found her niche in life, through Tennis. She was a member of the Taylor Tennis Club for over 20 years. During this time she made some wonderful and close friendships. The word Love really did take on an additional meaning. Cynthia and Harvey took up playing Bridge and appreciated the friendships that were made. Prior to her illness, Cynthia enjoyed many hours of cycling during the summer months and her many winter vacations along the Gulf Coast of Florida. A private family interment will be held in Chapel Lawn Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Cynthia's life on Thursday, April 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Viscount Gort Hotel, 1670 Portage Avenue. The family would like to thank our neighbors and friends for all their support during Cynthia's illness. We would also like to extend our thanks and sincere appreciation to the Palliative Care, Home Care, and Respite teams; and our gratitude to the Firefighters from Engine 19, crew of Paramedic Unit 05, and to the Emergency Room staff at Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cynthia's memory may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 3M7 or to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Hi Mrs. Schmidt! This is the way I always greeted Jonathan's mother when we stopped by the house for one of our visit's to talk sports but it always turned into hockey talk with Harv and the boys. Mrs. Schmidt always had a smile on her face whenever I saw her. She was a great mother to my friend Jonathan and she will be sadly missed. It is with great comfort to know Mrs. Schmidt is in peace. With our deepest sympathy, The Gardner Family - Posted by: J Gardner Family (Friend) on: Apr 24, 2008
