MARY VIONA NORINE (NOREEN) KOLESAR (nee PAYMENT) May 1919 - April 2008 Noreen our beloved mom, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend passed away on April 16, 2008 in Selkirk General Hospital following a stroke in early February. Predeceased by her husband Ernie in April 2007 Noreen is survived by her three sons, Bob (Karen), Ron (Pat), Randy (Joanne), grandchildren Kim (Chris), Sharlene (Brian), and Ted. Our beloved Mom was born the 3rd of May, 1919 in Silver Ridge Manitoba and lived her entire life in this province. She was the second born of the family of three brothers, Cyril, Howard, and Douglas who predeceased her. Her sister Marjorie survives her, as well as sisters-in-law Shirley and Gunny, and numerous nieces and nephews. For some 30 years mom and dad owned and operated bakeries (the Bake-Rite Bakery in Powerview and then the Olde Home Bakery on the south side of Park Avenue in Beausejour). On their well-earned retirement in 1976 they moved to Pinawa Lake. Mom referred to those years as the happiest of her life where she enjoyed reading, gardening, needlepoint, feeding and observing the many bird species, wildlife, sunsets and relaxing evenings at the water's edge. In 1997 they moved to East Selkirk. In early December 2006 Mom moved from her East Selkirk home to Woodland Courts assisted care facility. As the weeks passed she increasingly enjoyed her time in the wonderful atmosphere of this facility. Mom was a kind, gentle, caring and entirely selfless lady. Throughout her life, even as her health declined, she maintained a positive attitude. She rarely complained. Rather, she focused on the needs of others, and seldom on her own. In her consistently gentle way Mom influenced our lives positively, honourably, and powerfully. Her unconditional love will continue to grace us. The family thanks Home Care staff and nurses over the last several years for their dedication and care, Woodland Courts administration and staff, our gratitude to nurses at Selkirk General, and a special thank you to Dr. Badenhorst for his compassion for the elderly. A memorial service will be held Tuesday the 22nd of April 2008 at 12:30 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg. Monsignor Maurice Comeault will officiate. Following the service Mom's cremated remains, attended by family, will be interred at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, or a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
