Date of Passing: Apr 19, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIDA ARCHER On April 19, 2008 a beautiful soul left us and has gone on her journey to God's home, where her family, mother Maria, father Vinanzio, husband David Alan, and friends who have gone before her will greet her with open arms, and especially her granddaughters, Amanda Jolene and Shanna Lynn. Ida is survived by her four children, Bill (Heather), Mary Jane (Bill), Margaret, and Alan (Shannon), her nine grandchildren, Lisa (Chris), Bill Jr. (Krystall), Adam, Robyn, Chris (Ashley), Tamara (Aaron), Rita, Jordan and Jessica (Rebecca), her eight great-grandchildren, Taylor Dawn, Shianna, Brett, Brandon, Amber, Cory, Allyson Paige and Lux, her brother Romeo Di Genova and his daughters, Linda and Maureen. She was born in Glenella, Manitoba on February 18, 1921 and attended school in Selkirk, Manitoba. After school she worked as a nurse's aide. She met and married Dad on September 23, 1944 at Holy Rosary Church. She began working in the kitchens at the Municipal Hospital in 1968, and eventually retired from Day Hospital , where she worked with the patients in Arts and Crafts, on February 18, 1986. She truly enjoyed the work she did in Arts and Crafts. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren teaching them how to knit, crochet, and sew. This showed through the many handmade dolls, ornaments, knitted and crocheted articles that adorned her and her children's homes. She was very active in the Catholic Women's League (Treasurer) and a long time member of Our Lady of Victory Parish. She was very involved in the Girl Guide movement starting in January 1964 with the Riverview 41st Guide Company. She became a District Guide Leader in 1966 and in 1974 Deputy District Commissioner. She retired from active participation in 1981 and remained a member of the Trefoil Guild until the time of her passing. What a wonderful blessing this gracious woman has been to our lives. She lived her life with grace and dignity always willing to share whatever she had with those that she loved and cared for. Her gentle way, her kind, giving heart and beautiful smile will be missed by many. In celebration of her life and the many gifts she bestowed on us all, a mass will be held on Thursday, April 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory, 254 Arnold Ave., with a reception to follow in the church hall. At her request, her pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bill Archer Jr., Chris Aymont, Adam Norton and Jordan Archer, Chris Holland; and Russell Munt. In lieu of flowers, mum would like donations to be made in her name to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba or Canadian Cancer Society. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
