She is survived by her son Martin (Sandra); daughters, Elaine (Kurt), Audrey (Hermann); grandchildren, Sarah (Pat), Kelli, Jamie, Marci, Curtis, Darren, Anna, Kathleen and Jonathan; sisters, Ada McCallum, Belle Coote and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim (2007); daughter Brenda (1977); brothers, Alf and Johnny; sisters, Jean, Bessie, Heather and Helen. Mom was born in Winnipeg on September 13, 1921. She was the youngest of nine children. She worked at Eaton's in Winnipeg for a few years before getting married to Dad in October of 1951. Together they raised four children. She was very active in the Poplar Point Alliance Church, and the Reaburn Heights Centre. In her later years she enjoyed her time at the Poplar Point Senior's Centre and at the Regency House in Portage where she lived for the past one and one half years. She also felt loved and welcomed at the Crescent Heights Chapel in Portage la Prairie. Mom loved to read and will be remembered for always having a poem, story or joke to read out at functions. She had a terrific memory and had memorized numerous passages of scripture which she could still recite perfectly in her last years. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and her friends and family were very special to her and she loved them all very much. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, MB at 1:00 p.m. with fellowship to follow at the Meadow Lea Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to express our thanks to the staff at the Portage District Hospital for their compassion and care they gave to Mom. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
