FLORENCE LUCY TAVERNER PETERSON Died in her sleep on April 7, 2008 at the age of 91 in Ottawa, knowing that she was deeply loved by her son Miles, her daughter Susan, her son-in-law of more than 40 years, Thomas d'Aquino, and her grandson Carl. Born in Winnipeg in 1916, she grew up with her parents, Elizabeth Edmond and Archibald Taverner who had immigrated from Scotland and England, her three sisters - Mary (Downes), Bessie (Beasley), and Barbara (Anderson), along with Edmond, McGraw, and Watson aunts, uncles, and cousins. She married Harvey Peterson of Tyndall, Manitoba whose parents Nils Peterson and Marion Fredrickson came to Canada from Sweden and Denmark. In addition to Harvey, their children were Violet, Evie, Gladys, and Alvin. Leaving Winnipeg during the Depression, Florence and Harvey Peterson lived in Niagara Falls for a time, before making Montreal their home. They spent their last years in Ottawa.
