LEONARD NEIL GOWER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on April 21, 2008 at the Gimli Community Health Centre, after a year long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Neil was predeceased by his mother and father Marian and Stan. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Mary Lynne; daughter Kathryn (Neil); son Michael; grandsons, Kraig and Kassidy Wrightson and their father Kevin. Neil will also be missed by his sister Eileen; brothers, Ken (Ronnie) Keith (Susan), Mervin and Melvin (Maxine); numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Neil was born on May 14, 1944 at Neepawa, MB. He grew up in Kelwood, moving to South Transcona in 1952. After many years in the construction industry, Neil worked at Health Sciences Centre for 11 years and finished his career at Air Canada retiring in March of 2003 after 21 ½ years service. Neil loved spending time with his family and working in the yard at their home in Sandy Hook. Neil and Mary enjoyed spending part of each winter in Palm Springs. Neil always enjoyed the odd trip to the casino, both in Manitoba and California. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to celebrate Neil's life will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street with Rev. Neil Strohschein officiating. Interment to follow. The family would like to thank the staff in ICU and 3 South at Grace Hospital as well as the wonderful staff at Gimli Community Health Centre, for the kindness and care given to Neil during the last two and a half months. Sincere thanks are also extended to Dr. Kevin Saunders, Dr. L. Homik and Dr. L. Benshaban. In lieu of flowers, donation may also be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or to a charity of one's choice.
