CLAIRE MARIE MIDDLESTEAD (nee JOURDAIN) January 24, 1926 April 22, 2008 Peacefully, after a brief illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of Claire Middlestead, beloved wife of Art, mother to Blake and grandmother to Courtney on Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Remaining to forever cherish Claire's memory are her husband Art, of 55 years of marriage; son Blake (Rose); granddaughter Courtney; sisters, Rosalie Vigfusson of Vancouver, Marguerite Jourdain and Eleanore McGroarty of Winnipeg; brother Arthur Jourdain of Vancouver; as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Adrienne Jourdain; sister Elizabeth Landry; and brothers, Louis and Jerry Jourdain. For over 25 years she was employed by George N. Jackson. After retirement Claire and Art enjoyed many summers at their country home in Moosehorn where she grew many vegetables in her garden. In recent years she particularly enjoyed their monthly gambling trips to the United States. Claire's funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. A private family interment will take place at a later date. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors of 3rd floor unit 5, who were so kind and caring during her brief illness. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in Claire's memory may be made to the charity's of one choice.
