MICHAEL (MIKE) SEMKOWSKI Peacefully with his family at his side, after a two year battle with cancer, Mike passed away on April 22, 2008 at the age of 82, at the Riverview Health Care Centre. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sofia; daughter Olga (Jim); sons, Bob and Morris (Debbie); grandchildren, Deb, Michael (Lisa), Kelly, Dena, Deanne; great-grandchild Evan; brother-in-law and best friend John (Christine) Mackow and family. Mike was born on July 14, 1925 in Ukraine the youngest of three children to Ann and Yurko, and immigrated to Winnipeg with his wife in 1953. Mike could always be found working on projects in his garage and enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and bird watching. The family would like to thank his physician Dr. Ruth Simkin and all the staff at Riverview Health Centre 3E, and are grateful to the Palliative home care staff for their care and compassion. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
