MARGARET COSTANTINI Margaret Costantini died suddenly on April 14, 2008. Margaret was a remarkable woman who led a very full life with so many amazing accomplishments. Her wonderful husband, Don, predeceased Margaret 20 years ago, and while she missed him to the end, she certainly kept herself busy. Margaret had many passions, one of which was a strong love of travel. Over the years, Margaret visited such places as Portugal, London, Australia and New York. One of her favourite places was New York and its wonderful theatres. Margaret knew so much about the history of our city and province and loved to pass on stories about where we have been and how we have moved forward. After the Second World War, Margaret was the Executive Administrator of the Premier's office of the Province of Manitoba, serving through the governments of six premiers. While the premiers kept changing, Margaret was the constant in those changes, holding it all together and passing on her knowledge of the inner workings each time. Margaret was installed as a member of the Order of Canada when The Honourable Edward Schreyer was the Governor General of Canada. She paved the way for many of the working women of today and blazed a strong path for others to follow. For that we thank her. While Margaret loved history and the past, she also loved to keep up-to-date on current news. Listening to CJOB and the CBC news every day was important to her and she always had an opinion on what she heard. She loved to voice those opinions and debate the topic of the day. Margaret is survived by her nieces and nephews as well as her sisters-in-law, Edie Hyslop, Rose Costantini, and Kay Constantine. She is also remembered by her friend, Irv Kroeker, who rarely missed a Saturday taking her shopping. At Margaret's request, no services will be held. A family dinner was held at one of Margaret's favourite restaurants where stories about her humour and accomplishments were shared. The city has lost an amazing woman and she will be missed.
