DOUGLAS LLOYD MCGRATH Douglas was born on June 23, 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel and his younger brother Ted. Survived by his sisters, Kathleen Lowe, Vera Kerr, Irene McGrath and Gail Barker. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Jacqueline (Gerry) Jorowski, Barry (Charlotte) Macrae; granddaughters, Vanessa Macrae, Amanda (Neil) Cunningham Macrae; great-grandson William, and several nieces and nephews. Douglas served the full term of the Second World War as a Staff Sergeant in Shilo, Manitoba. He was a member of the #4 St. James Legion for 62 years and took great pride in participating in the annual Remembrance Day marches to Bruce Park. He was employed as National Credit Manager for Auto Supply and he also worked for Acklands. Doug loved playing golf, curling, and reading all and any newspaper publications, as he was always interested in keeping up current events. He also maintained meticulous records of the horses and their jockeys at The Downs . After losing his wife on May 9, 2007 Doug's own health began to decline. He was diagnosed with cancer in January 2008 and without the love, concern and compassion of his beloved Muriel he lost his battle on the morning of April 22, 2008. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at the Grace Hospital for their care and kindness. The family will be holding a memorial service on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal, 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street).
