Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE ISABELLE CLEMENTS (nee GILL) Born: August 24, 1905 at the Cottage Hospital, Rathwell, MB Passed Away: April 16, 2008 Tiger Hills Personal Care Home, Treherne, MB It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Irene Isabelle Clements (nee Gill) of Rathwell, MB at the Tiger Hills Personal Care Home, Treherne, MB on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the age of 102 years, beloved wife of the late Cecil Clements. Irene leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory, her three children: Jack (Muriel) Clements, Jane (Ed) Courte and Judy Smith, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law: Isabel (Les) Yule and Lil Forrester, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband: Cecil Clements, her parents: James and Jane Gill, one sister: Doris (Bill), one brother: Harry (Pearl) and by one niece: Bev. Irene was born on August 24, 1905 to Jane and James Gill. She and her one brother and one sister were raised in the Rathwell area. Irene attended school until she completed her grade 11 and then attended Normal School in Brandon in 1925, she then taught school at Pratt, Tisdale (Killarney), Sanford and Landerville (Lac Du Bonnet). In 1932 Irene married Cecil Clements in Winnipeg. They lived on a farm in Killarney for several years before returning to Irene's hometown. They farmed in the Rathwell district and raised three children: Jane, Jack and Judy. Cecil passed away in 1975. Irene has 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Irene's interests centered around her family and community as Church organist, member of the U.C.W. and W.I. She enjoyed working with children in school, helping with concerts and substitute teaching. Her yard and garden were a great source of pleasure. Irene enjoyed reading, cooking, crafts, gardening, cards, knitting and playing the piano. She played the piano at the United Church in Rathwell for years. Irene has also done quite a bit of travelling, visiting England, Scotland and the Yukon. Irene moved into the Tiger Hills Personal Care Home in October of 2001. Irene enjoyed playing the piano. She also enjoyed getting her nails done, reading, music and visits with family. The family wishes to acknowledge the exemplary care Irene received in the Treherne Personal Care Home. Funeral Service was held from the Calvin United Church, Rathwell, MB on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Haupt officiating. A Eulogy was read by Reverend Cathy Allan. Pallbearers were Irene's immediate family members. Following the service at the church, all friends and relatives attending were invited to join with the family for a time of refreshment at the Rathwell Community Hall, Rathwell, MB. Following the luncheon, burial took place at the Killarney Cemetery, Killarney, MB. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Irene's memory to a charity of one's choice.
