JAMES (JIM) VINCENT GOODISON Peacefully, after a courageous battle with C.O.P.D. and emphysema, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of James Goodison on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 2:15 p.m. at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Remaining to forever cherish Jim's memory are his wife Esme (Sam); children Dona and husband Dennis and their children David and Denise as well as great-grandchild Ellice, Lorraine and husband Brian and their children Laura and James, Carl and Anne and family, Rob and wife Michelle, Greg and his daughter Carissa, Charlotte and husband Allan and their son Zackary. James also had lots of family in Michigan who he loved and had many special times with. A loving goodbye goes to Joe Shay and family and the rest of his relatives. James, A.K.A. Jim was a well respected man whose career was with the Canadian Labour Movement on all levels. He worked on the Avro Aero with the team designing the wings. Jim was a Grand Lodge Representative for the International Association of Machinists and Aero space workers for many years. He was loved by many and well respected. Jim will be missed for years to come. He was in Parliament in the 1970s as Deputy Minister of Labour with the NDP under Ed Shryer. Jim was with the Labour Department with the Canadian Embassy at Washington D.C. The final position in his career was vice President Chairman of the Board with the Ontario Workers Compensation Board. Jim retired at age 61. He and his wife Esme, A.K.A. Sam, had a well deserved special 16 years of retirement together. Dad's final orders to his children were to not have a funeral or a memorial or he will come to haunt us. That was the way Dad was. We always miss and love you Jim (Dad) from your wife Sam and your kids. Rest in peace Dad. You have touched so many hearts; you are really leaving your mark here Dad. In lieu in flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6.
