Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELVIN DENNIS KERR Peacefully on April 20, 2008, Melvin Dennis Kerr passed away at Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 69 years. Mel was born September 18, 1938 to Frank and Joyce Kerr. Mel is survived by his wife Lorraine and children: Pat (Bob) McVeigh, Susan Sienema, Ron (Carol) Kerr, Don (Sheila) Kerr, Christine Kerr, Melissa (Bill) Sharpe and grandchildren Leah and Cara McVeigh; Kevin Sienema; Steven, Lindsey, Allyse, Cameron and Gavin Kerr; Shaelyn Kerr; and Billy, Devon and Katie Sharpe. Mel is also survived by his only brother Don (Janice) Kerr residing in Australia and numerous extended family members. Our Dad was born and raised in the River Heights area of Winnipeg and graduated from Kelvin High School. Dad worked for Imperial Oil for 10 years before moving his wife and family out to the Whiteshell area in 1968 to manage an Esso Service station near Falcon Lake, Manitoba. Our parents endured the hardship of losing their business and living quarters in a fire in November of 1969. Our parents pulled together however, and a new service station was built and they employed many of the local residents over the years and many memories were forged. Our Dad always had a keen and curious mind for adventure. Dad's interests were many and varied. He enjoyed photography and had been involved with the Winnipeg Gliding Club and the Winnipeg Hot Rod Association. He was a collector of every imaginable thing under the sun. He was always a big kid at heart! He was also an avid reader and was well versed on many subjects. Dad rededicated his life to Jesus Christ as his Saviour and Lord in the fall of 2005. A private family service was held on April 23, 2008 at Church of the Rock. A donation in memory of Mel Kerr may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Bye for now Dad, we'll miss you!
