DELLA MULDER (JENKINSON) August 7, 1925 - April 22, 2008 It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Elizabeth Della Mulder (née Jenkinson) on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at St. Boniface Hospital. Della is survived by her husband Everett, two children, son Stewart (Val); grandson Douglas, and daughter Lesley; grandchildren, Spencer Curtis (Liz), Cameron Curtis (Chieko), and Stacey Curtis, and two great grandchildren, Anika and Callie. Della was born in Whitemouth, Manitoba and was the last surviving member in a family of five. She received her early education in Whitemouth, and in 1940 joined the Canadian Air Force as a wireless operator, where she spent the subsequent four years. Upon returning to Winnipeg, Della took an accounting course and worked in the offices of Canada Safeway until 1948, at which time she married Everett. The couple lived in East St. Paul, where they raised their children. In 1971, they moved to the city. Della and Everett celebrated their 60th anniversary in January 2008. Della's many hobbies kept her active in her communities throughout her life: she curled in East St. Paul for 10 years; took pleasure in five-pin bowling with the Manitoba Cartage for 12 years; spent 2 years participating in equestrian riding; and was involved with race horses for 10 years. In 1973 Della received her pilots license for gliding. Della passed many of her winters traveling with her husband. She loved seeing herds of wild animals on her African Safari, and both Everett and Dell have shared in years of laughter over memories of friendships formed on several winters in Mexico with a caravan tour group. But Della's favourite location away from home is one she called a special place: Egypt, where she was forever moved by the enchanting pyramids. Della spent most weekends of the summer at the cottage at Falcon Lake. Until 6 months ago she averaged 2 crossword puzzles every day. Della was always kind and considerate, never criticizing those around her. In lieu of flowers or donations the family requests that all that knew Della remember her kind spirit by giving another person a hug or a handshake, or enjoying a cold glass of red wine. In respect to Della's wishes there will be no public funeral service. A viewing will take place on Thursday, May 1 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on 4000 Portage Avenue. All those wishing to say their final goodbyes to Della are welcome to drop in between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. The family thanks the staff on the fifth floor of St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion, kindness, and professionalism to Della and her family. From the Tree of Life, Each leaf must fall- The green, The gold, The great, the small- Each one in God's own time, He'll call- With perfect love, He gathers all. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
