MARIE DOYLE (nee CHIBRY) April 30, 1922 - April 25, 2008 On Friday morning, April 25, 2008, Marie Doyle passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital, just five days short of her 86th birthday. Remaining to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years, Gordon; daughters Beverley (John) and Pamela; son George (Patricia); grandchildren Elizabeth (Paul), Deborah (Bill), Johanna and Eric; great-grandchildren Jake, Sam and Campbell. Marie spent her early years on the Chibry family farm in Roland, MB, later moving to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba on a scholarship, earning a degree in Home Economics. Marie went on to work as a dietician. While working at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Marie met Gordon, who had returned to Canada after serving in the Canadian Army overseas. They were married Oct. 16, 1947 and moved to Winnipeg. Marie then went to work at the Winnipeg General Hospital (HSC). After several years, Marie left the hospital to assist Gordon in his business (Doyle's Supply). Upon retirement, Marie and Gordon spent the summers at their cottage at Clearwater Bay, Ont. Marie loved to pick blueberries. She would spend many hours roaming the woods with her plastic pail, never returning empty handed. Marie and Gordon also got to spend many winters in Antigua, West Indies. They loved to spend their time going for long walks and watching the cruise ships come in. Marie was fortunate to spend her final years at home. This was mainly due to her devoted husband who, with the help of the family and healthcare aides, made her as comfortable as possible. A special thank-you to Beatrice and Delores, who both spent many hours over the last few years giving Marie very compassionate care. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2 at 2:00 p.m., at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make a donation in Marie's name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.glenlawn.ca. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
