Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS JOSEPHINE MACDONALD With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, grandmother and dear friend, Gladys MacDonald, in the early morning of April 27, 2008 after a short illness at the age of 76. She was predeceased by her husband Donald, and parents Pauline and Joseph Guzar. Gladys will be greatly missed by her children, Moraina / Donna (Larry), Debby (Harvey), Heather (Kelly), and Brian, and grandchildren, Dylan, Courtney (Jaclyn), Drew, Zak, and Kati as well as extended family and many dear friends, especially Nancy and Elma. Mom always made family a priority and took great pride and pleasure in all family gatherings and events. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who wanted the best for her children and grandchildren. We will have many cherished memories of love, laughter and good times. Gladys was born November 4, 1931 in Goodlands, Manitoba where she lived until moving to Winnipeg where she met Don and married in 1953. They raised their family of four in the Brooklands area where they were very actively involved in the community, coaching baseball as well as sitting on the executive at Brooklands Rec Centre. They later were active members and volunteers of the Brooklands Weston Legion, where Gladys became president of the Ladies Auxiliary and later District Commander for several years. Her faith was important to her and she was involved in the Catholic Women's League at St. Patrick's Church for many years. She retired from work at Boeing in 2000 remaining active in Legion events. She enjoyed attending sporting events with her children and cheering her grandchildren on in whatever sport they were involved in. She loved watching curling, the Winnipeg Jets and her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, Dr. Sean Armstrong and the nurses of the Dialysis unit, and all 5th floor, Units 1, 2 and 3 staff. Your compassion, tenderness and sense of humour was greatly appreciated. It gave Mom great peace to be in such good hands. Gladys will always be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour, her kindness and selflessness and her concern for others. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the honour of knowing her. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2008 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews at Mountain Avenue. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, Rev. Father Kevin Smith Celebrant In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests your donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
