Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDELLA SCHETTLER (nee UHRYNIUK) (1926 - 2008) Suddenly, yet peacefully, our cherished mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008 with her family by her side. Della will be fondly remembered by her two sons; Grant (Brenda), Lorne (Joanne) and beloved granddaughters Erin and Carla and her sisters; Mary and Beatrice. Della was predeceased by her husband, Jack in 1994, her parents and three of her siblings, Anne, Michael, and William. Della was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She passed her proud Ukrainian heritage onto her granddaughters, Erin and Carla through dance class, pysanky making, cooking, and the yearly trek to the Dauphin Ukrainian Festival. She left all that knew her great memories, especially for her two granddaughters, whom she loved with a passion and who returned in same. Della was born in Fairlight, Saskatchewan, moving to Plumas at age 10. Her early years in Plumas were filled with family, sports, music, dance, and church. These interests followed her throughout her life. She was an active educator earning her Bachelor of Teaching at Brandon University. She taught in Plumas and district for 27 years before retiring in 1983. As a strong, active supporter of the church and community, she took on many roles. She was an avid gardener transforming her yards into masterpieces. At Della's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Della's Life will be held at MacGregor United Church on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in Della's memory to the Central Plains CancerCare Services, Winnipeg Harvest, United Church of Canada or to a charity of one's choice.
