OLGA KOWALSKY 1930 - 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Olga at the Arborg and District Health Centre on April 28, 2008. Olga will be lovingly missed by her children, Sue and Walter (Norma); her grandchildren, Tyler, Riley and Dana Kowalsky; sisters, Mary Shott, Justine Leochko, Anne Stawychny, Steffie Wilson; brothers, Walter and Bill Tycholis; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and friends. Olga was predeceased by her husband Walter (2007); her father Wasyl (1936); her mother Nascia (1967); brothers, Mike (1995), Joe (2003) and Tony (2008). She was born in Poplarfield, MB on May 24, 1930 and spent her early years helping her family on their farm. At the age of 18, she took a teaching job at the Morweena School and caught the eye of a handsome, young school board member. Olga and Walter were married on April 22, 1950 and spent the next three years in Toronto, working at National Rubber. The work was hard and both of them longed for their prairie home. They returned to Morweena in 1953 and lived in Beaver Creek and Riverton. When Dad got his job with Highways in 1965 they returned to Riverton a second time and stayed there until this year. Besides being a super wife and mother, Olga worked at various jobs: in Marshall Wells and CO-OP in Riverton and at Helca Resort. Ill health, in 1995, forced her to slow down and Dad was by her side day and night. When Dad died, she was very lonely and lost without him. She was a loving, kind and generous mother and grandmother. She was so proud of the achievements of her children and grandchildren and took special pride in their accomplishments. Many thanks to Dr. Grogan, the Ambulance staff and the staff at the Arborg and District Health Centre. The family appreciates your efforts, support and kindness. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel, Arborg, MB, with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. Interment to follow in the Morweena Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tyler and Riley Kowalsky, nephews, Peter and David Kowalsky, great-nephews, Glenn and David Shott. In memory of Olga, donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
