Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN EVA (MCINTYRE) WELLWOOD May 14, 1933 - April 29, 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our much loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend Doreen, with close family and dear friends at her side at the Grace Hospice on April 29, 2008. She was predeceased by her loving husband Owen, infant son Craig and parents Alta and Walter McIntyre. She leaves her son Leslie (Julia) Wellwood; daughter Lois Wellwood (Pierre Michiels); grandsons Garrett and Drew Wellwood, sister Beatrice (Burke) Fisher, brother Clarence (Marjorie) McIntyre; sisters-in-law Phoebe MacKinnon, Pearl Weatherhead (Charlie Thomas); brother-in-law Harold (Noreen) Wellwood, special cousin Bette Franz and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Doreen was born in Westbourne, MB on May 14, 1933 and she told many great stories of growing up on the family farm. She attended business school in Winnipeg and started her career at Bird Construction. She subsequently worked for the Canadian Armed Forces for many years both in Canada and abroad, and upon returning to Winnipeg, Doreen worked with the Province of Manitoba in the Department of Education. Her career culminated with the Medical Services Branch, D.I.A.N.D. as Executive Secretary to the Regional Director in 1996. Doreen was an active member of the Daughter's of the Nile, Sphinx Temple No. 116 and fund raised and travelled extensively to attend annual Session in various locations throughout North America with her closest friends and fellow members of the Tambourines. Doreen dedicated her retirement years to family and friends and was active in many charitable endeavours. Doreen was happiest when her kitchen was full of people and the fridge was well stocked, and she found great pleasure in shopping and lunching with her friends. A Service to commemorate her life will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Boulevard on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. A private family grave side ceremony will be held later that day at the Longburn Cemetery, in the R.M. of Portage la Prairie, MB. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Doreen's memory to St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation (Palliative Care), 409 Tache Avenue, R2H 2A6 or Grace Hospice, 260 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3R5.
