JURE (GEORGE) GRDICH After a lengthy illness, it is with sadness we announce the death of Jure (George) Grdich on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the age of 87 years. Jure is survived by his daughter in Croatia, and son George in Toronto. He was predeceased by his wife Leona (1999). Born in Croatia, Jure served in the Second World War and came to Winnipeg in the 1950s. He spent many years as a union bricklayer in British Columbia and at Bristol Aerospace in Winnipeg. Before his illness, Jure was very much interested in the goings on in the world and never missed a hockey game on TV. He was known best by always being a gentleman. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Nicholas Tavelich Croatian Roman Catholic Church, 2688 Main Street. Interment will follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. The family would like to thank the staff of West Park Manor Personal Care Home for their endless compassion and care. Donations may be made in Jure's memory to West Park Manor Personal Care Home or to the charity of one's choice.
