CHARLES ROSS MCKNIGHT Passed away peacefully in Victoria on April 27, 2008 at the age of 79 years. He was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on May 18, 1928 to Ross and Ida McKnight and grew up on a farm south west of Rosetown at Gunnworth, Saskatchewan. The family relocated to a farm at Oak Point, MB in 1944 and at age 16, Charles was out on his own, working as a farm hand for four years, went mining at the Pickle Crow Goldmine for seven years. He attended Winnipeg Bible College, completing his Ministerial training and was a Pastor for 24 years with Associated Gospel Churches, latterly in Victoria. After his retirement, Charles managed various apartments, worked part time at McCall Brothers and most recently at Lumberworld at the gate. Charles was predeceased by his first wife, Katiebelle MacDonald in 1951, his father, Ross in 1984, his son, Robin in 1987, his mother, Ida in 1994, his son, Bruce in 1994 and his second wife, Barbara in 2002. He is survived by his children, Barbara (Harry) Verstraaten, Sherrie (Mike) Olson, Tom (Rhonda) McKnight; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Teri, Alex, Ashton, Natalie, Robynn and Taylor; his daughter-in-law, Tammie (Charlie); two sisters, Annie (Les) Scharf and Rose Koval; two brothers, Bill (Joyce) and Harry (Ruth); his brothers-in-law, John and Alfred; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. A Memorial Service will be conducted from MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined; tributes, if desired, may be made to The Gideons or a charity of one's choice.
