VICTOR TRAVERSE (ROOT) June 6, 1940 - April 30, 2008 With sadness we announce the passing of Victor Traverse (Root) on April 30, 2008, at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, at the age of 67 years. Victor leaves to mourn his passing, his special friend, Ellen Chartrand; his beloved mother, Hannah Henderson; his beloved children, James (Lisa) Chartrand and Tracey Chartrand (special friend Bob); his step-children he loved as his own, Martha, Florence, Jack (Nancy) Chartrand, Mike and Kevin; sisters, Lillian Henderson and Emma Jane Hnasewich; brothers, Robert (Linda) Henderson, Conway Henderson, Ronald Henderson, Albert Hourie and Norman Traverse; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Victor was predeceased by his father David Pruden; his grandmother, Betsy (John) Woodford; his aunts Mary and Martha Ryle; uncles, Harry, Walter and Andrew Woodford; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Victor lived most of his life in Fairford, and up until his passing he lived in Winnipeg. He had various jobs, such as farming, sugar beeting and rice picking, as well as other jobs. Victor's favorite past time was playing Bingo with family and friends. He always had a smile and would lend a helping hand. He never turned away friends and family, as he would always have a room for them if they needed a place to stay. (Victor was known for comforting family when they lost a loved one, and for attending many funerals.) The family would like to thank the Seven Oaks Hospital, Health Sciences Center CCU Unit, the Pinaymootang Chief and Council, Lake Manitoba Chief and Council, the Anderson Family Funeral Home, and the many friends and family for their donations, support and prayers. Wake services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008 and Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. both evenings. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Fairford House Of Prayer, Fairford, Manitoba with Pastor Wilfred Bruce and Rev.
