Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA MAY CROMACK MCNEIL (nee HAMP) On April 16, 2008, Edna May Cromack passed away at James Bay Care Centre, one month short of her 92nd birthday. She was predeceased by her parents, Minnie and Ernest Hamp; husbands Harold Cromack and Stewart McNeil, and her sister Hilda Edgar. She is survived by son Gary (Margaret) of Edmonton and grandchildren, Martin, Michael and April all of Edmonton; and daughter Janice (Robert) Wettlaufer of Vernon and grandchildren, Christine (and Ke) of Ottawa, and Robin (and Ulric) of Jerusalem; great-granddaughters Eleciah (Edmonton) and Isabel (Ottawa), and sister Grace McKay. Edna was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on May 15, 1916, the eldest of three daughters of Minnie and Ernest Hamp. The family moved to Winnipeg and it was there that she met Harold, married and raised their family. She worked as an Executive Secretary for a number of Winnipeg companies. After Harold retired, they moved to Victoria in 1971. In retirement she enjoyed lawn bowling and volunteer work. Harold died in 1981. Eventually, Edna met and married, Stewart McNeil a veteran and retired businessman. Stewart died in 2004. In the last two years Edna lived at Central Care Home and at James Bay Care Centre. Edna was a strong and independent daughter, sibling, wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. Special thanks to her caring extended family at the James Bay Care Centre. A Memorial service will be held at JAMES BAY CARE CENTRE, 336 Simcoe Street, Victoria on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Glen Priebe officiating. Interment later at Royal Oak Burial Park.
