BERTHA (BETTY) JEAN DUNCAN November 23, 1934 - May 01, 2008 With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Bertha (Betty) Jean Duncan (nee Johannesson), peacefully at the Pinawa Hospital, Pinawa, MB, at the age of 73. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Left to celebrate her life is her husband Kenneth Ronald Duncan; children, Diane (Craig), David and Susan; her grandchildren, Doreen and Alexander; her sister Doris (Ron); brother Alvin (Audrey); her niece Donna and nephew Gary (Ursula, son David). She was predeceased by her father Joseph and mother Evelyn Francis (nee Elliman) and by her step brother Howard Patterson. Betty lived most of her life in Winnipeg and spent her remaining years of happiness with her many friends in Pinawa, MB. She met her husband and soul mate while in their teen years, through a mutual friend and went on to a life of wedded bliss for 56 yrs. Betty retired from the Canada Safeway in 1993, where she had worked for thirty six years as a meat wrapper. She loved her job due to the many friends she made with fellow workers and many customers. She enjoyed boating, fishing, and her computer where she had stored many wonderful recipes. The family would like to thank Dr. deKlerk and all the staff of the Pinawa Hospital. Respecting Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg. A gathering of Betty's friends to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. If you wish to contribute to her memory, please make a donation to Pinawa Hospital c/o Cancer Unit or one of the Medical Associations, such as Health Sciences Centre, Cancer Care Manitoba, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Diabetes Foundation, etc. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB Toll Free 1-877-776-2220

I never met Mrs. Duncan; her mother was Evelyn Elliman, sister of my Grandmother Annie Rose Elliman Danico. I have been searching for Evelyn Elliman's family for many years - I have been in contact with their brother John's family in England. If any family members ever see this post and would care to respond, I can be reached through ancestry.com or at cabrewer@rcn.com - Posted by: Catherine Danico Brewer (1st cousin 1x removed) on: Aug 01, 2016
