Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE REGINALD LUMSDEN It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend on Saturday May 3, 2008 at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oak Bank at the age of 78. George will be greatly missed by his loving wife Coila of 55 years and his children, Rick (Irene), Maureen (Rolly), Doug, Cheryl (Blaine) and Nadine (Grant) along with his grandchildren, Steven, Kenton, Michael, Stacey, Melissa, Brett, Amanda, Dana and his two great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Amelia. As well he leaves to mourn his brother Jay (Bev), sister Eleanor (Murray) sister-in-law Alice, Mae (Carl) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. George's love of family gave him the strength and courage to overcome many health issues which in turn gave his family many more years of quality time with him. Everyone who knew George enjoyed his joking nature always knowing he would get the last word in. His sense of humour and positive outlook on life will be cherished by us all. George was born on May 28, 1929 and lived the majority of his life in the Dugald area. He was a very loyal employee working for 37 years as a mechanic and shop foreman at Eaton's with a very strong work ethic which he instilled in his children. His enthusiasm for automobiles never waivered even after he was no longer able to work on them; he continued to enjoy his love of vehicles by displaying his large collection of model cars. In his younger years he was very involved with coaching baseball, helping at the skating and hockey rinks and volunteering with many projects at the community club. George enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, curling, and camping with his wife Coila and their large group of friends and family. His home was his castle, making everyone feel that they were more than welcome to come over at any time for a visit and a beer. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all of the staff at the personal care home for their extraordinary and loving care of George. At George's request cremation has taken place. A memorial service for George will be held at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the Kin Place Personal Care Home, 680 Pine Street, Oak Bank, Manitoba, R0E 1J0. Old Dear and Pop , you will never be forgotten by, Spike, Stinky, Sardine, Magoo, Snorky, Bean, and Rosie and you will be in our hearts forever. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
