DOROTHEA MARIA HURTECANT (nee ROSIN) Dorothea passed away peacefully, with her children by her side at her residence on May 2, 2008 following a lengthy illness at the age of 75 years. Dorothea will be lovingly remembered by her children; Gary (Deborah), Nancy (Reg) and Kevin (Marlo), grandchildren; Laura (Leroy), Nicholas, Stephen, Kristine and Michael as well as three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Cyrille in 2003. Dorothea was born in Borntuchen, Germany on March 19, 1933 and immigrated to Canada in November 1953. She met dad while working as a nurse's aid in Ninette, Manitoba. Mom was a devoted wife and homemaker. She took extreme pride in her ability to maintain a clean home. She especially enjoyed cleaning her children's homes, but only when asked to help. In the summer, Mom enjoyed working in her yard and in the winter she prided herself in maintaining a Hurtecant sidewalk. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Drive. Interment will take place in Belgium Sacred Heart Cemetery, 501 Plinquet St. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 204 900 St. James.
