WILFRID EMILIEN MORIN It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our father, Wilfrid Emilien Morin, on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the age of 83 years with his children and grandchildren by his side. Left to mourn, his cherished wife of 56 years, Alma (nee Meilleur), sons Richard and Raymond (Francine), and Anita (Dan), and grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Alyssa, Chantal, William, and Mila, sisters Edna Potvin and Aline Campeau, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Wilfrid was predeceased by his parents Henri and Alma (nee Daignault) Morin, sisters Anita and Flora, and brother Hector. Wilfrid was born on August 29, 1924 in St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba and during the Depression moved to Winnipeg. He met the love of his life in 1949 and married on June 21, 1951. Wilf and Alma made their home in St. Boniface where they raised their three children. Wilf's pride and joy was his six grandchildren, each of whom he was very proud and took personal interest. Dad was a kind, caring, patient, loving husband, father and grandfather. He always put the needs of his family and others before his own. He instilled in his children and grandchildren values such as a strong work ethic, the importance of God and the church, and always to be grateful for what you have. Wilfrid was a hard working and productive member of his community. He tried his hand at several occupations but for the most part of his career he worked for numerous years first with Federal Pioneer Electric and then with Carte Electric, where he retired as a purchasing agent. Wilfrid was an exceptional steward of the community. He was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus (Goulet Council). He volunteered as a worker and later became President of Precious Blood Parish Bingo, as well as the Centre Communautaire. He also served as President of the Club LaVerendrye and was a member of the Native Sons organization. He was well respected in the community and made numerous contributions. Wilfrid had many interests and hobbies. He was an accomplished and avid ten pin bowler. He also loved golf, playing cards, collecting coins, going out to the lake, spending some quiet time with his family, enjoying an evening out with Alma, and entertaining family and friends in his home. But no one can contest the fact that Wilfrid's biggest love was Alma. He would always light up and smile whenever she was around and this continued through to his last days with her at Foyer Valade. A special thank you to the staff at Foyer Valade for their ongoing support, care and attention to our father over the last several months. A funeral mass will be held at St. Emile Church, 556 St. Anne's Road on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts. Until we meet again. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.desjardins-funeral.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
