DOROTHY (DOLL) WEBSTER WEBSTER (nee MCMILLAN) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy (Doll) Webster, aged 95 years, on May 1, 2008 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB. Doll was born in Winnipeg on March 28, 1913 to J. A. (Pete) and Margaret McMillan. She moved to Ashern in 1917 and lived there all her life. She worked for many years at Otto's Store. Doll was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Ashern Legion, Royal Purple and The Lakeshore Hospital Guild. 100 years ago she was an avid baseball player and curler. She also loved to dance, skate and whistle. In 1975 she married George Webster and these were the happiest years of her life. After retirement, she guarded for the RCMP, and enjoyed knitting countless knee covers for the Care Home. She never missed a curling game or Lawrence Welk Show on T.V. or the Portage Polka Party on Saturday night. She was a very generous, humorous lady and a friend to all. She was predeceased by her parents, husband George, siblings Joe, Pat, Gordon, Vi, Corrine, Margaret and Joan. Doll is survived by two sisters-in-law Mae McMillan and Margaret Thorkelsson, one daughter Margaret Ferguson (Wayne); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; step children Verna Johnson (Frank), Doug Webster (Donna) and Lois Miller (David); eight step grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Michael Raj officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment to follow in the Oakview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Johnson, Chris Strand, Kevin Webster, Paul Olson, Mike Porteous and Lloyd Porteous. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Home Care workers for the care and compassion provided to Doll while she lived in the Pioneer Manor and to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Ashern Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Cross Cemetery Fund care of Glenda Granger, PO Box 367, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 or the Lakeshore Hospital Guild care of Julie Bergner PO Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0.
