Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEILEEN MILDRED DOAN 1915 - 2008 Eileen passed away peacefully on May 5, 2008 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Eileen was born November 9, 1915 to Lena (Teed) and J. Charles Brown. Eileen and her three sisters, Hilda, Florence and Elsie shared a special bond while growing up in the Saskatchewan communities of Wilkie, Luseland and Saskatoon. The Brown girls maintained a close relationship throughout their lives. Upon completion of her education Eileen worked for Greyhound Bus Lines in Yorkton and Saskatoon. Eileen married Frank L. A. Doan on August 17, 1946. They resided in Saskatoon for many years before moving to Winnipeg in 1965. As a member of Cornerstone (Oakview) Baptist Church for over 40 years, Eileen enjoyed the fellowship and participated in various church related activities. Those who knew Eileen, remember her as a thoughtful, kind, friend and a gracious hostess who was modest about her wonderful culinary skills and hospitality. Eileen enjoyed singing and played the piano very well by ear. It would take some coaxing to encourage her to share her talents but the end result was a happy, fun-filled occasion. Her life revolved around Frank, her family, her home and her church. Eileen was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank on May 3, 2007, her parents, her sisters and brothers-in-law; Hilda (Lloyd) Green, Florence (Jim) Sim, and Elsie (Don) Carlson; sister-in-law Erminie (Morley) Ostrander; nephew James Sim and niece Jacqueline Sim. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Jude (Ramu) Carlson, Marge (Peter) Kirchmeir, Liz (Pat) McAleese, Ruth (Ken) Weir, Doug (Nina) Green, Barbara Green, Herb (Joan) Sim, cousin Maryanne (Kip) Frater as well as other cousins, many great-nieces/nephews and longtime friend Kathy MacIver. Eileen's Family is appreciative of the attentive and thoughtful care by the staff and Companions at the Convalescent Home where Eileen resided for the past five years. Eileen enjoyed your companionship and attention. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 9, 2008 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 505 Oakview Ave. with Rev. Clark Gietz officiating. A reception will follow. At 4:00 p.m. an interment service will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street.
