Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST (ERNIE) BUCHOLZ 1920 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, after a rich and fulfilling life, lovingly surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 3 at the age of 87. Our dad was born in Rosenfeld, Manitoba on the spookiest day of the year, October 31, 1920. Dad was predeceased by his mother and father, Anna and Adolf Bucholz, brother Leonard, sister Martha, three sisters-in-law, Anne, Marie and Jean and brother-in-law Louis. He was also predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Rose and Peter Anthony and brothers-in-law Bill and Borden Anthony and sister-in-law Alice Anthony. Ernie is survived by the love of his life, Jean (58 years), three daughters Sharon (Leo Assis), Sandra and Susan (Peter Lawrence) and by his grandchildren, his four little angels, Gemma, Mark, Evan and Leah and honorary children Doug and Lourdes Assis and honorary grandchild William. He is also survived by his brothers Rudy, Harold and Max (Nettie) and brother-in-law John Anthony. He also leaves behind his special nephew Bob (Pat) and their children, and special niece Eileen as well as many other nieces and nephews. Ernie joined the Canadian Air Force as a master mechanic and served in Canada and England during The Second World War. Upon his return from the war, he worked for several construction companies before forming his own company, Comet Builders and Decorators. Ernie especially enjoyed the camaraderie he shared with the people in the insurance industry and was very proud of the certificate he was given as Friend of the Manitoba Pond of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose International . Ernie spent many summer weekends fishing with his buddies, playing cards and crib. He enjoyed gardening and had a passion for finding the perfect tomato amongst the many different varieties he grew. We, the girls and Jean, gratefully acknowledge and thank the outstanding staff at the Concordia Hospital, 3rd floor, west wing for the professionalism and compassion they showed towards dad and to us. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ernie's life on Friday, May 9 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. The Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., will be officiated by the Reverend James Hagel of Calgary, family friend, with internment to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to: Autism Speaks c/o Mrs. Morrison Walk Co-chair, 92 DePeuter Cres, Bradford ON, L3Z 3A2 In support of Autism research
