Date of Passing: May 05, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERMAINE GAGNON (nee DUMAINE) January 5, 1929 - May 5, 2008 Germaine nous a tous surpris par son départ si soudain. GERMAINE GAGNON On May 5, 2008 Germaine Gagnon of St. Pierre, Manitoba passed away suddenly and peacefully. Left to cherish Germaine's memory is her beloved husband of 60 years, Jean-Marie Gagnon; her children, Madeleine (Armand) Mercier, Diane (Luc) Lemoine, Fernand Gagnon, Gilbert (Julie) Gagnon, Aline Krishka, Colette (Robert Plourde) Gagnon, Richard (Angèle) Gagnon and Murielle (Michael Williamson) Gagnon; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her father Raoul; her mother Yvonne; her sister Stella Dumaine; grandson Pierre Mercier; her son René Gagnon, and son-in-law Ron Krishka. Germaine will be deeply missed by all who had the immense pleasure of knowing her. Germaine was born and grew up on the family farm in Ile-des-Chênes, Manitoba. She married her best friend, Jean-Marie, on June 10, 1948, moved to St. Pierre where she resided until her passing. Partnered in love and devotion, Mom always stood alongside Dad, giving birth to nine children and working tirelessly at running the large dairy/grain farm. Mom's hands were busy hands and when she wasn't cooking, cleaning or gardening, she was sewing beautiful articles of clothing for her children or for her many dedicated customers. Many wear her garments with pride, not just for her impeccable attention to detail, but also for each stitch of love that completed each piece. One of Mom's favourite sayings was: I feel like a millionaire, not because I have a lot of money, but because I'm so fortunate...! These words were often lovingly expressed by her, when entertaining family and friends at their summer getaway at the Rock Garden Campsite in Richer, Manitoba. Germaine was the best Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma, always putting her family first. The loving care she so graciously provided her family, extended to relatives, friends and neighbours. Her dedication and compassion will be forever remembered. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Missionnaires d'Afrique , 228 Hamel, Winnipeg, MB R2H 0K6. To celebrate and remember the many lives Germaine touched, a celebration of her life will be held at St. Pierre Catholic Church on Saturday, May 10, 2008, viewing at 10:00 a.m. and mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment and reception to follow.
