Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY JEAN MCAULEY (nee MCDONALD) May 17, 1924 May 6, 2008 Peacefully, with her family by her side, as the sun broke through the clouds and the gates of Heaven opened, the Lord called our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother home. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 61 years, Rodney. Dorothy also leaves to mourn in her passing, her son Angus (Carolyn), granddaughter Michelle (Darrin) and great-grandson Alex Postma; daughter Shelagh McAuley, granddaughters, Danielle Alfaro, Macey (Brock) and great-grandsons, Wyatt and Weston Woolgar of Calgary; daughter Marcia McAuley, grandchildren, Rachelle, Ryley, and Dana Devine; daughter Colleen (Rick) Loewen, grandchildren, Jonathan, Margaret, Timothy, and Sarah. Dorothy will also be sorely missed by many treasured relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Dorothy was predeceased by her children, Margaret and Ewart; great-granddaughter Breanne, and most recently son-in-law Bill. She also was predeceased by her parents Angus and Margaret McDonald (Shoal Lake Pioneers), as well as her brothers, Angus, Archie, Bob (Belle), John (Bessie), Jim (Ethel), and Rachel (Les Hamilton). Dorothy attended King School, Shoal Lake School, and Islay School in Vista. Dorothy served in the R.C.A.F. (W.D.) Dorothy's love of music led her to play the violin and she also enjoyed dancing with her husband through the years at 141 Legion. She also enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk and Daniel O'Donnell. Dorothy was employed at Eaton's Department Store, and later enjoyed working as a Senior Ward Clerk at St. Boniface General Hospital. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always placing others before herself. Her kind, gentle, caring and loving soul endeared her to many. Many thanks to Doctors and staff at Concordia Hospital. Thank you also to the caring Doctors and staff at Riverview Health Centre. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Friday May 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Ave., with Pastor Gerald Hildebrand and Kathleen Rempel-Boschman, Chaplain officiating. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial service Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Argyle Cemetery, North of Shoal Lake, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 2P4. Never shall we forget the time we spent with you.
