GERTRUDE (GETA) NAMAK (nee GANETSKY) Beloved mother of Dena (Henry) Katz and mother-in-law of Judy Namak, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2008 at age 98. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Shula, Michael, Dana and Howard and several great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Samuel, her son Avrim, parents Moishe and Esther, and siblings, Sima, Florence, Minnie, Sam, Basia, Joseph and Mania. Geta was born in Mogilov, Russia, and came to Canada with her parents as a teenager. She was very active in the I. L. Peretz Folk Shul and Na'amat, and took great pleasure in actively participating in various programs at the Gwen Secter Centre. She made several trips to Israel and Russia with her sister, Florence, to visit with family. She was laid to rest on April 22 at a dignified graveside service conducted by Rabbi Larry Lander at B'nay Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rube, Leonard, Vev and David Ganetsky, Gerry Namak and Nathan Dana. Barney Charach was an honorary pallbearer. The family wishes to thank Doctor Koven and the Sharon Home, especially the third floor staff, for their kindness and compassionate care.
