ADAM (AUDJAY) RUFF
Born: May 03, 1917
Date of Passing: May 07, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADAM (AUDJAY) RUFF May 3, 1917 - May 7, 2008 Today, with sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of the physical presence but not the passing of the ever present spirit of our beloved Adam Ruff. His love of life and family will be cherished by his wife of 68 years, Ruth, daughter Gerry (Ron Martin), son Wayne (Barbara), daughter-in-law Betty-Anne Bodanski, grandsons, Robert Ruff (Rosita), David Ruff (Kelly Livesley), granddaughters, Robyne Ruff (Harold Brazil), Susan Ruff (Ron Johansson), great-grandchildren, Mandy Brazil; Colton, Morgan, Madisson, Dylan, Jason and Derek Ruff; Kara, Stefanie and Emma Johansson. He was also the patriarch to all the nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews from both the Hallmuth and Ruff families. Adam was predeceased by his son Gary on November 17, 1981. Adam grew up learning the value of hard work, working at manual labour and as a heavy equipment operator and excavator. We were proud of his role in building flood dykes in 1950 on Lyndale Drive, Churchill Drive and Kingston Row and his contribution to numerous residential and commercial developments in Winnipeg. He completed his work life as an employee of the Winnipeg School Division. Dad loved the sun and he and Mom valued their time together at Grand Beach when raising their family and later in life enjoying their 28 years as snowbirds in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was a lifelong member of the YMCA and was still swimming 20 lengths a day at the age of 90. He was a member of the St. John's Sportsman Club and the Canadian German Society. In 1986 he had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong travel dream by going on a photo safari in Kenya. For 68 plus years of marriage Mom and Dad were truly each others soul mates and their differing personalities complimented each other. Their enduring love was an example to all who loved them. Special thanks to all the palliative care staff at Riverview 3 East for their caring and compassionate treatment of Adam and all family members. Thank you to the home care staff, with special thanks to Mary-Anne, Adam's palliative care nurse. A celebration of Adam's life will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 815 Inkster Blvd. Reception to follow. (Handicap access) Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview Health Centre, CancerCare, or Christ Lutheran Church.

I have only seen my great grandpa Ruff I think 3 times. Once when I was 4 I remember being with him in the hospital visiting one of my uncles who had a stroke, I think it was my uncle Gigi, I was visiting him because he was going to die soon. I also remember when I was younger in my backyard once they flew out to Vancouver and we were all in my back yard having fun and he was always smiling at us and making me and my brothers laugh and it was great. I also remember once when I was 5, we were all getting a family photo together. Later on that year he died. I still have this photo today and every time I see it I always think of the few times I saw him. Even though I do not remember him that much I still have some memories with him I won't forget. In 8 days it will be 7 years since he passed away. I miss him so much at lots of times and he always made me smile and feel happy when no one else could. He is always missed and I love him so much. Even tho I don't remember him sometimes, he will always be in my heart. - Posted by: Madisson (great grand daughter ) on: Apr 29, 2015
