Born: Jun 03, 1922
Date of Passing: May 07, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE GEORGE HODSON Peacefully on May 7, 2008, Laurie made his long awaited journey to be with the love of his life, Edith (Woody), who had predeceased him on July 15, 1993. Dad was born on June 3, 1922 in Wroxton, Saskatchewan. The eldest son of Thomas and Mary Elsie Hodson. He had a long and successful career with the Hudson Bay Company (Northern Stores) that was interrupted for a time with his service in the armed forces during the Second World War. Dad was a longtime member of Southwood Golf Course, until health issues forced him to stop. He loved gardening and took great pride in his flowers and tomatoes. For years he had a garden on Lindsay Street by the railroad tracks where he grew all types of vegetables. He also took great joy in watching the birds and those darn squirrels at his bird feeder. He always made sure the birdbath was clean and full of water. But his passion in life was his wife Edith. He was devoted to her and when her health started to deteriorate, he became the primary care giver. For a man who had never really cooked, cleaned, used the washer and dryer, this was a major undertaking which he handled without complaint. Dad is survived by his children, Gerry (Lynne Ransby), Brenda Essery, Jim (Sheri Goodridge) and Barry (Pat). Grandchildren, Kristen (Renald), Kevin (Maarika) and their mother Leigh Nanton, Erin, James and their father Stuart Essery, and Brad. Great-grandchildren, Paige, Logan, Kaitlin, Noah, Maija, Aubrey and Morgan. Also surviving Laurie is his brother Ray (Bev) and sister Barb (both of Saskatoon), along with many nieces and nephews and their offspring. He was predeceased by his brother Ken on April 24. Special thanks to Frieda who was a good friend for many, many years. And also to Laurie's granddaughter Erin who was especially helpful and caring for the past few years. Many thanks to the outstanding caregivers in 4E of the Deer Lodge Hospital. Their compassion and professionalism made Dad's last few months very comfortable. As per Dad's wishes there will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers make sure you hug the ones you love. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
