Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MAE KROKEN It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother, amma and big amma, Dorothy Kroken, aged 74 years of Hanusa, MB on May 7, 2008 at the Gimli Community Health Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Norman; children, Melvin (Joan), Harvey (Lenore), Sharon (Albert), Sandra (Sylvan), Doreen (Stuart), David (Marcel), Marvin (Kim); stepchildren, Carol, Rita, and Andy (Gail); Stan Monkman; sisters, Libby and Brina; brother Henry McKay; sister-in-law Edith Clark; brothers-in-law, Barney (Eleanor) and Oli (Margaret); grandchildren, Melanie, Cheryl, Harley, Caroline, Micheal, Sherilyn, Kelvin, Jennifer, Terrence, Trevor, Edward, Logan, Blayne, Rachelle, Brett, Skyler, Jorja, Rhondell, Gilden and Bella and 22 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband Haroldur Johnson; grandsons Shane and Dustin Johnson; parents Malcolm and Bella McKay; a brother Clifton and a great-granddaughter. Dorothy married Haraldur Johnson in 1952 and they lived and farmed in Geysir, MB until his passing in 1977. She married Norman in 1978 and they lived at Victoria Beach where she worked for Home Care and cleaning cottages. She enjoyed working with and meeting people through her job with Home Care until retiring and moving to Riverton in 2005 to be near her family. Mom was especially proud of her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her flowers, baking, cleaning and garage saleing. Amma is proud to say that she babysat every one of her grandchildren, their children and even pets. She often spoke of her life on the farm and how happy she was there. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. Prayers will be said Monday, May 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. Cremation to follow. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Riverton-Gimli Ambulance and to the doctors and staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, those wishing can contribute to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of one's choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
