LARAINE VIOLET HAMEL-VERMETTE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laraine Hamel-Vermette on May 9, 2008 at the age of 62. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Marcel, her son Jason, her daughter Renée (Dave), her son Jeremy, her grandson Rylan, her mother Muriel, her sister Margaret Ross (James), her brother Wayne Hamel (Jo Ann), her brother Brent Hamel (Betty), her brother-in-law Ken Watanabe, and her in-laws Camille and Pat Vermette and Denise and Bill MacLean. She was predeceased by her father René and her sister Heather. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, and Sammy. Laraine was a very active life long member of Christ the King Church. She was a past president of the school board and also very active in many of its fund raising programs. Laraine volunteered at Villa Rosa and Golden Links Nursing Home for many years. She was involved with Scouts Canada and also volunteered at the Manitoba Theater Centre. Through the Rotary Exchange Student Program she and her husband hosted several foreign exchange students. They also took in many foster children over the years. Her family would like to thank the staff on GH6 at the Health Sciences Centre, and especially Dr. Clare Ramsey and Dr. Rubinger for their care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Wednesday May 14 at 7:00 PM at Christ the King Church at 847 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Funeral Mass will be held May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church.
