Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCIS (FRANK) NOWICKI Peacefully, as he lived, Frank passed away at the age of 94 years on May 11, 2008. He will be sadly missed by Kay, his beloved wife of 65 years; his children and grandchildren: Laurie and Joan Nowicki, Jayne and Ray, Linli and Warren and great-granddaughter Terri; Louise and Clint Acheson, Lani, Graeme and Lindsey; Frank Jr. and Donna Nowicki, Dan and Tom; and Jim Nowicki and Kathy. He will also be sadly missed by his honorary family: Bob Lewis and Eric and Mary Isaacson, as well as many other family and friends. Frank was born in Winnipeg on February 1, 1914 in the family home on Union Avenue. He was the youngest of four children and was predeceased by his brothers Louis and Eddie and his sister Helen. Frank treasured friendships throughout his entire life, some maintained from early childhood days. More than anything, Dad loved being with family and friends sharing food and conversation, a virtue passed down from his parents Walter and Marcella. As he shared his life with Kay, together they made their home a welcoming place for gatherings large and small. Thirty-three years ago, Frank retired from Canada Post after 27 years of service. Frank's life was made full by his many interests. He was the consummate gardener, an avid reader, a harvester of the wild, berries, mushrooms, and poison ivy. He was a bird watcher, master(?) angler, wine maker and sometime gambler. Frank was a champion cribbage player and was always willing to give a lesson for only two bits, double for a skunk! A special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Middlechurch Personal Care Home for all their wonderful care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, or a charity of your choice. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. (661-4384). Arrangements in care of Glen Eden (982-8300).
