HENRY (HAROLD) TAYLOR LYTTLE With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and great-uncle, aged 79, Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Victoria Hospital. Harold is survived by his two brothers, Tom and Jack (Gloria); nieces, Erin (Andy), Shannon (Mark) and Maureen (Cam); nephew Desmond (Lian); great-niece Robyn and great-nephews, Rowan (Nina), Daryl, Brendan and Steven. He was predeceased by his parents Tom and Isobel; sister-in-law Margaret; nephew Gordon and great-niece Kathy. Born in Winnipeg, Harold attended Principal Sparling and Daniel McIntyre schools. He was employed by Molson's Brewery for many years and then transferred to the newly formed Associated Beer Distributors where he remained until retirement in 1989. Harold loved sports and participated in softball, golf and curling. He was a longtime member of the Granite Curling Club and also the Buffalo Recreation League where he won their annual mixed bonspiel so many times that they eventually let him keep the trophy. He played softball on the Fort Garry Brewery team. Many happy hours were spent watching sporting events on TV and he had a gift for remembering every play, score and statistic for hockey, baseball, golf and curling even decades after the event. Those who were fortunate to have crossed paths with Harold recall how kind he was. His gentleness and giving nature gave anyone in his presence a feeling of great comfort. They also enjoyed his quick wit and nothing said would go unnoticed without Harold throwing in a comment that would bring a laugh. He very much enjoyed cabin life at Falcon Lake where he welcomed the company of our family and his neighbours. We truly appreciated the time we were able to spend with Harold throughout his years. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street with the Rev. Nancy Sanders officiating. A private interment will be in Brookside Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital (5th floor), Vista Park Lodge and Catherine Place for the compassionate care provided for Harold. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K8.
