Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET EILEEN WEIR Miss Margaret Eileen Weir passed away on May 7, 2008 at St. Boniface Hospital. Eileen was predeceased by her beloved parents, David Weir in 1969 and Mary J. Weir in 1987. Eileen was born in Winnipeg and attended Lord Roberts Junior High School, Kelvin High School, and the Angus School of Commerce. She was employed as a civilian secretary at No. 3 Wireless School, R.C.A.F., in Tuxedo during the Second World War. Eileen was transferred to the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1945, then worked at Deer Lodge Veterans Hospital from March 29, 1965 until her early retirement on December 29, 1980. Eileen attended Sunday School at Rosedale United Church, was a longtime member of St. Stephens-Broadway United Church and the Choir, and has been a member of Westminster United Church since May 31, 1998. She was a member of the Canadian Legion War Service during the Second World War, a competitor and volunteer with the Manitoba Music Festival, also a member of the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choirs. Following her retirement Eileen attended the University of Winnipeg Continuing Education Courses for Seniors, and traveled extensively. She was also a member of the Refit Centre, and the Royal Commonwealth Society. Eileen is survived by her cousins, Mrs. Jean A. MacDonald, Mrs. Carole Tomkins (Jack), Mrs. Janice Keal, Douglas A. Hughes (Lilia), Mrs. Phyllis Munroe (Don), Clare A. Anderson (Frances), Mrs. Enid Knight (Perry), Mrs. Lorraine Taylor, Hugh M. Rae (Carla), Mrs. Eunice Hembroff, Bruce W. J. MacDonald (Christine) of Canada, and D. Bruce Hembroff (Irene), Pastor Donald E. Anderson (Beth), and Morley B. Anderson (Alma) of the U.S.A. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joan Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow at Thomson In the Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2A6, or to Westminster United Church, 745 Westminster Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 1A5. The family wish to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for the care provided to Eileen.
