MURIEL SHEAD May 17, 1921 - May 6, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Shead on May 6, 2008. Born and raised in York, England, Muriel (nee Spence) later moved to London where she met and married George Shead. They moved to Montreal in 1949 and later relocated with their family to Winnipeg. Predeceased by her parents Edith and Jack and her husband George, Muriel is survived by her four children, Richard (Alyce), Christine (Tom) Bennie, Philip (Nancy), and Alan (Susan); her grandchildren Mark and Justin Shead, Sandra (Bryn) Nixon, Christopher and Shawn Crosby, Jennifer and Carolyn Shead; her great-grandchildren David and Samantha Nixon, and her extended family of Tamara Yuskin and Richard Robertson. Muriel was always busy and active. She and George loved to travel. After George passed away, Muriel continued travelling. She loved to discover new places and enjoyed re-visiting familiar locations. She was happiest at home cooking and baking for her family. Family dinners always included delicious food, lots of love and laughter. Muriel was a dedicated volunteer in the community as a teachers' aide, at Deer Lodge Centre, and at the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home. She was most recently active with the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Branch No. 283. Muriel loved life every day and cherished her friends who mourn her loss, with her family. A Celebration of Muriel's Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Muriel's name to Siloam Mission, The Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
