Date of Passing: Apr 21, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILY SMALL March 16, 1939 - April 21, 2008 Lily was predeceased by her husband George in 2000, her daughter Eleanor in 2004, her mother Pearl in 1984, her father Peter and stepfather John in 1984 and brother Norman. Lily leaves to mourn her daughter Helen, husband Kevin and two grandchildren Shelby and Dylan Webster; her brother Bill Woloshyn, wife Mary and family, sister Gladys Grodecki and family, brother Gordon and wife Pat Slobidnyk, many friends and adopted family in Fisher Branch whom she took in over the last few years since her own children were away from her, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was known as mom and Baba to many. Lily was born and raised in the Kilkenny area where most of her friendships began. Once Lily made a friend, she never forgot them. Lily married George in 1967. Her life was full of hard work and dedication to her job and her two girls, even when they were away she made sure they were safe by a phone call every day. Lily worked for Home Care, then at the local Co-op store until her health problems in 1991. Lily loved to joke and say things as they were. Her passions included gardening, getting hers planted first, and cooking. Lily was a member of the Ukrainian Church and she catered many weddings, funeral, and church dinners. Her favourite was making perogies and meals for anyone who came to her place. You couldn't leave without eating; she wouldn't have it any other way. Mom possessed an unlimited amount of energy and strength in all she set out to do, these are her gifts to us! Baba loved spending time with her grandchildren Shelby and Dylan, especially making donuts and perogies. Her most loved companions were her dogs the pugs Molly, Jasmine, Hunnie and Tubbie, and her cat Mocha. Lily's last wishes were to take care of her grandchildren and her dogs. Hunnie is safe and happy living with Shelby and Dylan. Lily will be missed by her coffee buddies at the Interlake Motor Hotel. They were her friends and companions for many years, until her health wouldn't allow her to go out. That is when all of her friends came to her to have coffee, run errands and assist her in any way to help keep her in her own community and home, as she wished. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, MB at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment to follow at Ukrainian Christian Congregational Cemetery. Thank you to all of her special family and friends who assisted in any way. Special thanks to Pearl for being able to stay with mom, also to the Home Care workers Donna and Bob for keeping mom safe and in her own home. God bless all of you.
