Date of Passing: May 06, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLINDA ELAINE ELKE-FARIS 1950 - 2008 After a long battle with cancer Linda went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2008 and is now free of illness. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend to many. She leaves behind her best friend and husband, Scott Faris, who was the love of her life. Missing her are her children, Tracy (Vance), Cori (Derek), Shauna-Lee (James), and Jordan (Leah). She also has three step-children: Curran (Bre-Ann), Brenna, and Evan. She enjoyed her six grandchildren, Luke, Liam, Simon, Bryn, Maia, and Jack. She will also be missed by her mother Rhona Knopp, sister Debbie (Mike), brothers, Alvin (Denise), Rod (Karen), sister-in-law Helen (Eric), as well as many nieces and nephews. She once said that she had nothing left on her “to do” list because she had fulfilled all of her dreams. Linda lived life to the fullest and is remembered for jumping on beds, swimming with dolphins, tubing down the river, and playing practical jokes. Linda enjoyed her “secret garden”, and spent many happy hours there. She loved to travel and her favourite place was visiting Isla Mujeres, Mexico with Scott. Whatever she did she did it with commitment and passion. She completed her Bachelor of Education later in life and commenced her dream job – teaching. She was respected and well-liked by both students and teachers at Murdoch McKay Collegiate, and shared her love of travel with countless students. Linda’s smile lit up the room and she continued to be positive throughout her illness, concerned more for others than herself. She took the best of everyday and strung it into a tapestry of lifelong memories for her friends and families. Her husband Scott gave her courage, strength and amazing love that carried her through these times. Our gratitude goes out to: the North Eastman Health Association for making it possible for Linda to be at her home, Dr. N. Rush, Dr. P. Daenick, Oakbank Baptist Church, and the many friends and neighbours that brought love, support, meals and baking to the house. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on May 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Oakbank Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Linda Elke Scholarship Fund at Murdoch McKay Collegiate.
